Updated with this year's awardees. Back on the Road 2019 Time for our third annual Back on the Road! Last year, over 35 nominations were submitted for South Carroll veterans who continue to serve our local community in many amazing ways. We're excited to do it again this year. C&A is once again selecting two veterans living in the Eldersburg/Sykesville area who could use a little extra help getting or keeping their vehicle going. Whether its for travel to work, finding work or transporting their family around—we're looking to get them back on the road. The selected veterans will each receive up to $2,500 of auto repair or maintenance services at no charge. All work will be done to our high standards with our full 24 month/24,000 mile warranty—they will just see an amount due of zero. We will not advertise their names unless the veteran approves

The Freedom District Lions Club 18th annual golf tournament was held on Friday, May 24th, 2019 at the Oakmont Green Golf Course in Hampstead. We were proud to sponsor a hole. Six Lions Clubs from Region IV/Zone 3 participated including Deer Park, Freedom District, Greater Carroll, Roaring Run, South Carroll and Taylorsville-Winfield. This year's tournament was in honor of International Director Richard Liebno and the clubs sent $5,050 to the American Diabetes Foundation for research to find a cure for this dreaded disease. They also sent $5,050 to Lions Vision Research Foundation, a program which supports vision research for a variety of causes of blindness and Lowe vision as well as $2,525 to the District 22W Hearing & Speech Action Program to aid those in need of assistance who are deaf or suffer from reduced hearing. C&A is a proud sponsor of Liberty Street Rods 30th Annual Rod Run on Sunday, June 23, 2019. From 9am to 3pm at the Winfield Fire Company Carnival Grounds - rain or shine! Registration is $15 for adults, $10 for kids 12 and under and a $2 spectator fee. Click here for details. It is a really fun event. There will be a coffee & pancake breakfast, fried chicken lunch, door prizes and games for all ages. Liberty Street Rods is a great local organization providing scholarships and tools for Carroll Community Career and Technology Center graduates and a top sponsor of the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department.

C&A is a proud sponsor of Century High School Opening Knights Drama Club's Spring  production of Disney's Newsies at Century High School. Newsies The Musical is a musical based on the 1992 musical Newsies, which in turn was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The show has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein based on film's screenplay by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. The musical premiered at the Paper Mill Playhouse in 2011 and made its Broadway debut in 2012, where it played for more than 1,000 performances before touring. Fiddler on the Roof is a musical with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia in 1905. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his Jewish religious and cultural traditions as outside influences encroach upon the family's lives.
